The name reaches back to a time before hops. Yarrow, the small white aster-family flower that owner Aaron Dowling and his wife Cindy grow themselves, was one of the herbs old-world brewers used to bitter and balance beer before hops took over. That nod to tradition fits what Aaron is after on Stone Avenue: beer that tastes like where it comes from. He moved into production brewing back in 2017, then took over the former Tetrad Brewing space to open a spot of his own. The focus is small-batch and rooted in the region: crisp lagers, mixed-fermentation saisons, and barrel-aged ales built on locally sourced malts and, often, local fruit, herbs, and flowers. If beer isn't your thing, there's wine and kombucha, plus simple snacks like pimento cheese dip and popcorn. It runs like the small, community-minded taproom it is. Dogs are genuinely welcome inside and out on the patio, down to free house-made pup cups on Wednesday pint nights. Thursdays are vinyl night, where you can bring a record to spin and trade one from the swap crate, and local musicians and food trucks rotate through most weeks. Regulars tend to talk about the owners as warmly as the beer, and the room is the unhurried kind where people settle in for a while. Since the lineup is small-batch and always turning over, the pour that becomes your usual is something you figure out a few visits at a time.
