Urban Roast: D.C.'s Floral Café-to-Cocktail-Lounge Lands on Datura Street
Urban Roast made its name in Washington, D.C., where the Azzouz brothers built a two-location hospitality brand — one in Penn Quarter, one at the Wharf — known for turning a daytime coffee shop into a full nightlife destination once the sun goes down. That same formula has now opened on Datura Street in downtown West Palm Beach.
One Space, Two Very Different Days
Mornings at Urban Roast look like a classic café: espresso drinks, egg-and-cheese croissants, Belgian waffles, and oversized breakfast boards built for sharing. By evening, the room shifts into cocktail-bar mode, with mini crab cakes and chicken tenders alongside drinks like espresso martinis and cold-brew old fashioneds — plus a DJ and the kind of lively crowd D.C.'s locations became known for.
A Brand Built on Instagram-Ready Design
Urban Roast's signature look — rooms dense with floral décor and built for photos — earned the original D.C. locations recognition from the city's Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment. The West Palm Beach outpost carries that same aesthetic into a downtown market that's increasingly become a testing ground for out-of-state hospitality brands looking to expand into Florida.
Good to Know
201 Datura St, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. It's worth visiting twice — once for the coffee-and-waffles crowd in the morning, and again for the cocktails-and-DJ scene at night.
