Taste of AfriKin 2026: A Jollof Cook-Off and African & Caribbean Celebration in North Miami

Friday 4 September 2026·By My Business Directory

South Florida's African and Caribbean food festival returns to North Miami over Labor Day weekend, bringing together culinary traditions from across the African diaspora for one ticketed evening of food, music, and culture at Maison AfriKin.

The Jollof Cook-Off

The evening's signature event is the Jollof Cook-Off, a friendly rivalry over one of West Africa's most debated dishes. Chefs representing Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal each prepare their own version of jollof rice, and attendees taste and vote to decide a winner — less a formal competition than a chance to sample three distinct takes on the same dish side by side.

Food, Music, and Art

Admission includes unlimited food tastings and cocktails throughout the evening, along with live performances headlined by the Rozz Parker Band and five additional acts. An art exhibition and a vendor marketplace round out the grounds. The festival celebrates culinary traditions from across roughly 15 countries in the African diaspora, and it has sold out in previous years.
